Tschudy Resigns Post with Commercial Bank

Ronald J. Tschudy resigns as assistant vice-president of the Commercial and Savings Bank of Monroe to acquire an interest in the Bank of Elkhart Lake where he will become president. He is 43, with prior service at Bank of New Glarus, and will join James K. Johnson who completes 50 years in banking on Jan. 1, 1972. He and his wife Mary plan to move March 1 with daughters Jennifer and Cathy.

Report Lists Conclusions on Marijuana

A 176 page federal study says most youths will not suffer dangerous effects from short term marijuana use but evidence is insufficient for a clean health bill. The report notes possible outcomes range from no effect to psychotic experiences and requires more research to gauge population risk. Dr Bertram Brown of the National Institute of Mental Health called the majority of healthy youths unlikely to suffer lasting harm from brief use.

Groundhog sees shadow as temps rise above zero

Temperature rose above zero for the first time since Saturday as flurries eased. Groundhogs Jimmy in Sun Prairie and Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania appeared, saw shadows, and fled, signaling six more weeks of cold. The Sun Prairie event drew about 100 residents at Eric Lenz’s home. Punxsutawney’s 87th annual rite included Phil’s wife stealing the show at Gobbler’s Knob and later pancakes at the Country Club.
