Henry J. Gramling III of Marshfield was named farm loan representative at Commercial and Savings Bank of Monroe Wisconsin. A UW graduate in Agriculture Economics, Gramling has extensive agri business experience including Market News Service USDA and Production Credit Association work. He managed a 240 acre family farm in Dousman and held roles as farm loan appraiser for Equitable Life in a 12 county north central Illinois area. He has deep 4-H roots, winning state and national dairy cattle contests, and is married with four children.

Communists Launch Attack on U S Positions in Vietnam

Communist led forces fired about 100 rockets and mortars at six U S positions in Vietnam, followed by a ground assault that killed six Americans and wounded 26. The fiercest action targeted a reconnaissance team from the 198th Brigade near Chu Lai, with five enemy reported killed. Additional strikes hit Da Nang, Cam Ranh Bay, Tuy Hoa, and Pleiku, causing fuel and aircraft damage. US casualty counts varied in initial reports.

Apollo 14 Crew Probes Docking Flaw On Moon Mission

Apollo 14 crews worked the docking latches by hand for hours trying to diagnose a faulty release mechanism on the lunar lander. They found scratches on the docking probe but achieved a hard dock after an unorthodox maneuver. President Nixon and Vice President Agnew commented on the launch as mission notes and optimism grew for the Fra Mauro landing.

Two blood donors reach four gallon mark for Red Cross visit

Seek to Install Signal Lights at Juda Crossing

Wisconsin Public Service Commission sees a petition to authorize two automatic flashing signals at the Juda crossing on the Milwaukee Road Janesville Mineral Point Line near Highway 1181. The Department of Transportation and the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific Railroad filed January 25 noting 2130 vehicles daily and four unscheduled freight trains weekly, with speeds up to 30 mph. Current protection is two crossbuck signs and two warning signs. Manitowoc County crews return to plowing after tentative contract settlement reached Friday night following mediation.
