The Monroe Kiwanis Club gave the Green County Historical Society a $500 check at yesterday's noon meeting at Swiss Wheel Restaurant to support ongoing activities. President Jacob Gruenewald presented the gift to Orville R. Evans, who accepted for the society. Midshipman David Deininger spoke and screened Ring of Valor, a film about the U S Naval Academy.

Shelter house reservations open January first for summer weekends

Lake Beckman Named By Wisconsin Supervisors
The Green Coumgoon and Water Conservation District asked Wisconsin Conservation Department to name the Browntown Wildlife area lake Beckman Lake after Ray Beckman for his pivotal role in the project near old Zanders Lake. Willis Riemer announced the plan at the SWCD annual meeting. Beckman was recently named Wisconsin Wildlife Conservationist of the Year.

Adams Schmid Enlists in Marines and Receives Marksmanship Award
Adams Schmid completed four years at Jubo High School and earned graduation credits through the Marine Corps. He enlisted August 8, 1965, trained in San Diego, received an expert marksmanship medal at graduation, and was cited for top grades. He deployed to Vietnam in January 1965.
