Rhinelander Dealer Held Stocked Store With Loot from Thefts
Stanley H. Whiting, 30, Cumberland former appliance dealer now in Rhinelander, allegedly stocked a local store with about $10,000 in goods stolen in roughly 50 northern Wisconsin burglaries. Police say his partner did not know of the thefted stock. Whiting was arrested after Minocqua officer Orville Neff stopped him while he carried a movie camera and other items to his car. A St Patrick’s rectory camera and a church poor box were reported stolen nearby. District Attorney Albert J. Cirilli said complaints would be issued later and officers from several counties questioned Whiting.

One Way Traffic Plan Takes Effect Tuesday in Monroe
Monroe city officials announced one way traffic will begin Tuesday on 10th and 11th streets with signs installed along cross streets and alleys near the square. Traffic will flow east on 13th to 20th and west on 10th from 20th to 13th while parking rules remain, but a meter post on each block will be moved for two way parking on the same street orientation. Snow could delay sign installation and start, but officials expect completion in time.
