Teachers Girls Service Club Hosts Yale Party at Monroe High

Members of the Girls Service Club held a Christmas Tea for school faculty and families at Monroe High School yesterday. General chairman was Marcia Connors with committee chairs Liz Stuessy Evelyn Bandi Rosann Rahberger Sandy Blum Karen Camron. Officers Bernie Purcell Carol West Theresa Motz and Marcia Connors served coffee and punch. Mrs A R Livingston is advisor.

Garrison charges Bradley in Kennedy murder conspiracy

AP News in Brief reports District Attorney Jim Garrison charging Edgar Eugene Bradley, 49, of North Hollywood, Calif., with conspiring to murder President John F. Kennedy. Bradley, denying involvement, comments that Garrison may be paid or unstable. Bradley is a West Coast representative of Rev. Carl McIntire, president of the American Council of Churches.

Move Planned to New School January 19 Best Date

The Monroe Board of Education announced the move to Northside School will begin Friday January 19, the end of the semester and an in service day with no school. Principal Anthony Serpe says the date aligns with college semester endings and potential new graduate employment.

Monroe area students from city and parochial schools left classes about one hour early to start Christmas holidays. Sept Derwin Huenink noted city grade schools held parties and buses ran early. St Victor's students dismissed around 2 45 p m. All will return to usual hours on Tuesday Jan 2.

Prairie du Chien mayor warns on aging Mississippi span

Prairie du Chien mayor Edward Farrell warned that the suspension bridge to Marquette, Iowa, risks collapse like the Point Pleasant tragedy. State and federal officials said the aging 1930 bridge needs replacement, with Iowa delaying funding for a new span and Wisconsin keeping it in repair. The bridge, carrying heavy truck traffic, is inspected regularly by Midwest states.

School Band Christmas Concert Delights Assembly

The High School Symphonic Band directed by Allan F. Barnard performed a Christmas concert for the Senior High Assembly at 1 15 p m. The Student Council helped introduce Santa to students and rumors circulated that Santa carried gifts for the student body.
