The Wisconsin Supreme Court unanimously rules public utility status does not shield damage claims. Three Alma farmers Andrew Noll Andrew Jose and Norbert Noll appeal Buffalo County ruling over coal smoke harming alfalfa apple trees sumac and wild grape shrubs. A new trial is ordered to assess sulfur dioxide damage from the Dairyland Power plant.
Walworth County District Attorney Robert Read announced warrants issued Friday for ten Negro students at Whitewater State University tied to earlier clashes with a white fraternity. Additional warrants were planned for others involved in the Tuesday fist fight between Negro students and the white fraternity.
Madison obituaries note Prof. Emil Troog, 85, soils scientist and former University of Wisconsin soils department chairman, died Friday in a Madison nursing home. He authored the first practical soils test achievable without extensive lab equipment more than 55 years ago.
Lorraine Cash sues over enforcement of a student grooming code affecting her ninth grade son Dennis at Spring Green. U.S. District Judge James E. Doyle set a December 29 hearing. Cash claims her son was kept out of class for refusing to conform to hair-length rules. Principal Kenneth Radtke cited a violation.
Marvin L. Part, 38, a former deputy district attorney and former deputy California attorney general, was appointed by the court to represent Leslie Louise van Kouten in the Sharon Tate slayings conspiracy and two murder charges. Part said the defendant has a defensible position.

Weather and reconnaissance reports sighted about 250 trucks weekly in eastern Laos, rising to 1 000 weekly in November as roads improved. In two weeks the rate exceeded 2 000 weekly. The U S Command stepped up air strikes on the Ho Chi Minh road network. In Saigon, Americans were warned to stay off streets amid possible terrorist acts. Captured documents urged intensified attacks to mark Viet Minh and Viet Cong anniversaries.
The two story Donald Clark farm house on Route 4 six miles north of Monroe burned yesterday afternoon with cause undetermined. Mrs Dressler and four children escaped through a bedroom window and walked to the Henry Elmer farm to summon help. The family, uninsured, had moved in last September and were staying with Mrs Dressler's parents for clothing assistance from Monroe Woman's Club. Firefighters spent about three hours at the scene.
The Red Cross bloodmobile visits Monroe on Tuesday 23 December from 1 to 6 PM seeking 87 replacement donors. Dr. F S Santiago asks 20 replacements for Dr Alexander Grud who recently had seven hours of open heart surgery at St Luke s Hospital Yankee after a heart attack.
