Sept D J Huenink announced the move to the new Monroe high school should wrap up late Monday or Tuesday. Classes were dismissed early as three donor trucks joined professional movers. shelving for the library is awaiting arrival and books stay boxed until mid January.

Area Escapes Cold Wave as Wisconsin Dips Poorly

A cold air mass spared Wisconsin the worst of a new cold wave with Monroe recording four above zero. Despite daily forecasts, snow failed to arrive as the chill moved from Canada into upper Michigan. Pettipston saw 31 below while Grantsburg reported 15 below. temps tonight could rise to five to ten above with Sunday highs in the low 20s.

Night Classes Resume At New School Jan. 6

Charles Mowbray director of adult vocational education reminded night school students that no classes will be held during the Christmas recess. Classes will resume Tuesday Jan. 6 at the new high school.

Strands Yale Traffic Pilot Strike Halts American Airlines

A 1,500 pilot strike at American Airlines halted flights nationwide during the peak holiday travel period. Trooper Foils Harvard Bank Robbery Plot

Harvard Illinois police say three men faked a bomb threat to rob the Harvard State Bank. State Policeman Ronald Wachlin arrested the trio in a stolen car near the bank after Melvin Glisson admitted making the call. Powell, owner of a gravel pit, aided the pursuit as officers evacuated four schools.
