Oakley Store Owner Rudolph Elitzer Is Found Dead
Rudolph Elitzer proprietor of the Oakley variety store was found dead near his home. Coroner Herman A. Stuessy ruled death from a heart attack. No inquest was held. Elitzer died about 7:45 a.m. and was found by his wife at 11:30 a.m. in a building near the house. The Blitzer family had owned the store for two years in Spring Grove Township, eight miles southeast of Juda. The body was taken to Stuessy funeral home for arrangements.

Two Women Rescued From Icy Rock River by Police and Student
In Vanesville on Monday two elderly sisters Miss Katherine Garry and Anna Garry were saved from the ice fringe of Rock River by Policeman Kenneth Kingsley and Milton College student David Bortner. Both women were hospitalized overnight in good condition. The rescue occurred as temperatures stood about four degrees above zero. Kingsley arrived after a boy alerted him to the danger. He reached the first woman via a catwalk and swam to her after breaking the ice. Bortner dove from the catwalk to save the second sister. A fire department rescue boat pulled all to safety.
