Lois Niles 19 Dies of Asphyxiation at Home in Monroe
Lois Virginia Niles 19 daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles J Niles was found dead in the kitchen of the family home 1315 21st avenue Monroe around 5 30 pm. Coroner Herman Stuessy and Dr Nathan Bear ruled asphyxiation likely from gas exposure as she attempted to reach an outside door while weakened by ill health. She had returned from Lawrence College Appleton and earlier attended University of Wisconsin. She was a Monroe High School graduate in 1944 member of Pi Beta Phi and active in Immanuel Evangelical church junior choir and lifeguard at Recreation Park. Survivors include her parents brother Charles J Wes and grandfathers Monticello and Tom Niles. Funeral at Stuessy Funeral Home at 2 pm Saturday with Rev Alvin C Rabeh officiating burial Greenwood cemetery.

Three Children Die in Farm House Fire north of Ontario
Three small children Robert 3 Ronald 2 and Kathryne 6 months died in a fire at the Shird family farm home two miles north of Ontario in Monroe county. Coroner M J Lanham was summoned after volunteers fought the blaze. The fire trapped a room and prevented the parents from entering.
