City council grants a Christmas salary increase for Monroe policemen with J H Schwaiger rising to 200 dollars monthly and Henry Hefty to 165 dollars. The final totals depend on a new larger force and avoid overtime, with a January 1 effective date and next meeting moved to Wednesday night due to New Year’s Day.
Policy cuts end of service requirements effective Dec. 31. It expands eligibility by about 600000 personnel for separation. Enlisted men with 2 years 6 months honorable service qualify. officer and medical restrictions apply with adjusted totals and age limits.

GM workers vote 99 percent to stay out until demands are met as Ford rejects a 12.4 percent offer.

Donald Kisting, 26, Milwaukee, died yesterday after his truck collided with a passenger train in Mequon. Police said the crash occurred in town and Kisting succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
