Two state Senate committees will hold hearings across Wisconsin to promote economic growth in nonurban areas. Chairman Krueger leads Natural Resources. Chilson heads Agriculture. Wisconsin council approves crime program budget plan

The Wisconsin Council on Criminal Projects endorsed a 9.9 million dollar budget for next year covering crime prevention police work courts and correctional programs. The plan also includes narcotics work research and related areas under a new personnel expansion program.

Study committee backs UW consolidation plan in Wisconsin

Madison AP report says university system president John Weaver called for a study committee to examine consolidating the University of Waloconan into a two year center and branch campuses. The move, supported by a Regents Educational Committee, aims to speed up consolidation ordered by law amid ongoing changes in the UW system. The panel would include county and local officials and report to the new UW executive committee. Also in Madison the Public Service Commission was asked to hold another hearing on a 22.4 million rate increase for Wisconsin Electric Power Co.

Senate Approves $2.75 Billion Foreign Aid Bill

The Senate passed a foreign aid bill authorizing 2.75 billion dollars in a 33 to 21 vote, a step to clear Congress for adjournment. The measure would authorize spending at 2.37 billion dollars annually through February 22 pending a full appropriation.

Personal income rises in November as wage push hits

The Commerce Department reports November personal income up 3.5 billion from October, led by a 1.5 billion gain in government wages. The wage-price freeze expired on November 13 and most gains come from military pay increases under Nixon's Phase 2, signaling a thaw in inflation controls.
