Bulls and Heifers Sale Planned at Green County Fairgrounds
More than 20 Holstein breeders consign animals for the annual bull and heifer sale Saturday December 17 at the Green County Fairgrounds. Sale chairman Edward Oliver of Albany notes 12:30 p.m. start and a strong selection of top quality stock. Oliver, in his second year as Holstein Breeders Association president, heads a committee including Elmer, Huffman, Nyhus and Indergand. Auctioneer Wayne Albertson and ringman Herman Schmitz will guide the event with Ralph Elmer as cashier.

Students Earn Shorthand Honor at Monroe High
Five beginning shorthand pupils at Monroe High School placed in the 99th and 100th percentiles after nine weeks of instruction. A dictation at 40 wpm lasted three minutes with 15 minutes to transcribe. Shirley Guttmer, Marlene Ott, Merrilee Pickett and Carolyn Schiller had perfect papers among 582 tested. Beth Penniston had one error and also ranked in the 99th percentile. Another test is set for week eighteen at 50 wpm.

Mental Health Luncheon Slated at Swiss Colony Inn
A noon luncheon will be held at the Swiss Colony Inn Rathskeller with Dr. John Ehrmann speaking on Green County services through the Southwest Mental Health Clinic. Governor names R. W. Blaha as Illinois bank commissioner
Roland W. Blaha 64, former supervisor of state banks, named by Gov. Otto Kerner as first commissioner of state banks and trust companies. The new agency will regulate all state chartered banks and trusts, with offices in Springfield and Chicago and a six banker four public-member board. Blaha starts January 1 1967 and will face Senate confirmation shortly after. He has long banking career including executive vice president of Monroe based Commercial and Savings Bank and leadership roles in bankers associations. He and wife Louise reside in Chicago.
