Two days of meetings at Middleton outlined 1966 feed grain and cropland adjustment programs before SCS Conservation and ASCS workers. At a county board session the Moose Lodge head presented a plaque with land judging contest winners to the Agriculture Committee with Willis Riemer accepting for the committee. The Moose, in cooperation with the Age Chest Extension Service and Soil Conservation Service, also gave a $152.50 check to Marvin Siedschlag for event expenses. James Schwoegier and Calvin Kraemer spoke briefly as co chairs and Schmiedlin organized a lunch for attendees. Charles F Smith of Wausau received the Conservationist of the Year Award in Madison Tuesday night.

Judy Rothman and Jill Hunt, college sociology students, were barred from Red Cliff Indian Reservation by a 5-2 tribal vote. VISTA field liaison Alfred P. Johnson said the project would resume only if the tribe renews its request. The two women, who joined VISTA after leaving college, expressed disappointment and uncertainty about future plans as the youth club at the tribal hall was sealed and petitions circulated.

Deputies investigate theft of nearly 3000 dollars and substantial jewelry from a Spring Grove Township trailer home. The stolen items filled a 14 by 18 by 7 inch metal box and include cash, coins, rings, earrings, a magnifying glass, and diamond pieces. CAPE KENNEDY Fla Astronauts Walter Schirra and Thomas Stafford launched Gemini 6 into an ideal orbit aiming a rendezvous with Gemini 7 high above Earth. The Titan 2 rocket lifted off on schedule at 8 37 am EST and Schirra moved toward a meeting with Gemini 7, which entered its orbit near 10 12 am EST as mission control approved a fourth orbit rendezvous. Borman and Lovell in Gemini 7 prepared to resume space suits for the chase while Gemini 6 reached orbit six minutes later and the pursuit began toward a planned rendezvous at 2 26 pm with a target within 100 feet at 17 500 mph above the Mariana Islands.

School Board Tours Madison Area Schools

Father and son medical drama ends in cardiac standstill
In Dallas Louis Smith a 19 year old freshman at North Texas State University died after an ambulance effort to revive him failed. Dr Louis S Smith a pathologist said he massaged the youth’s heart for about 40 minutes after opening the chest. The youth died at 8 20 am of a cardiac standstill despite external massage mouth to mouth and ambulance resuscitation attempts.

Green County March of Dimes presented a 500 dollar check to fund the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla California. Richard Newcomer noted the institute’s work on birth defects, cancer, aging, and other life sciences, urging public donations and outlining local programs. The 1966 campaign begins January 1.
