City Band to perform 15 numbers at hospital open house

Mrs Hattie Ableman ninety formerly of Monroe and Woodford died this morning in Beloit Hospital after living at Caravilla nursing home between Janesville and Beloit. Arrangements are pending at Stnessy Funeral Home. A daughter Mrs Clarence Moe of Fort Worth Texas is en route. She was the former Hattie Pickett and married Peter D Ableman January 11 1896. They farmed in Jordan Township Green County then Madison then Moree. Three sons Bernard Ted H and Burr preceded her in death.

Retires After 38 Years Of Rural Mail Service In Monroe
John E. Andereck of Route 4 Monroe retires Dec 30 after 38 years 11 months 21 days as a rural letter carrier. Beginning Jan 10 1927 at Juda Wis on Route 3 he served through four post office classes. He recalls the Fish Wagon and a winter catastrophe when a horse died on an icy hill. Route lengths grew from 27 miles to 71.05 miles by 1955 and he also led Troop 114 as Scoutmaster from 1942 to 1945. He is father to three sons Edwin Jack Nathan and has five grandsons and two granddaughters.
