Madison Wisconsin cheddar cheese market held steady with mostly fair demand and adequate supplies. US and Wisconsin production in the week ending Dec 1 rose five percent to about 21 million pounds, up 28 percent from last year. Wisconsin Swiss prices unchanged amid fair demand and ample top-grade supplies, while lower grade stocks were limited.

French IV students at Monroe High School begin babysitting at Grace Lutheran Church from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. to raise money for a Montreal trip. Rates are 25 cents an hour for the first child and ten cents per hour for additional children, with a special afternoon rate of one dollar for the first child and fifty cents for each additional child.

Monticello Sets 1966 Tax Rate and Levy Totals

The Village Board set the 1966 net tax rate at 28.24 per 1000 with a total levy of 31.00 before credits. State credit 9,224.11 and local 5.85 lower the net rate to 22 cents above the 1965 level. School tax leads with 17.47, County 9.46, State 1.00, while local decreases to 5.85. Total assessed valuation rises to 3,401,343. levy increases by 1,354.46 from 104,059.85 in 1965.

Funds Raised for Green County Association for Retarded Children

Over 1300 dollars was collected for the Green County Association for Retarded Children at the December meeting in Monroe. Donations came from Luck of Browntown volunteers and various clubs. The group approved Christmas gifts for special rooms and centers, funded a Monroe 4 H Club budget, and planned future activities including bowling and swimming under a projector program.
