Former Policeman Here Kenneth Mayer Dies at 59
Kenneth Mayer Sr. of Madison died after a brief illness in a Madison hospital. A Monroe native born August 19, 1907, he served as a radio dispatcher for the State Highway Patrol and co ran a Dairy Queen in Sun Prairie with his wife. Mayer was a former Monroe Police Department deskman and Green County Sheriff's deputy, earlier worked as a bookkeeper, and had oil/gas business ties with his father. He married Clara Rugh in 1940 and belonged to Grace Lutheran Church. he once ran a mink ranch near Old Argyle Road and was active in conservation work. He and his family had lived in Madison for four years.
