Wisconsin 4 H judging wins at expo led by Sevier

The Brothers and The Sisters from Kewaunee County won the 4 H daily judging at the International Live Stock Exposition. David Sevier scored the highest individual as Wisconsin beat Minnesota by eight and Pennsylvania by ten. Howard Voegels dominated Brown Swiss with ten firsts and was named premier breeder and exhibitor. Robert Seitz and Allen Hetts earned top honors in Ayrshire and Holstein classes respectively.

Wisconsin GOP To Launch Weekend Fund Drive For Deficit

The Wisconsin Republican party announced a mail solicitation fundraising drive to erase the party deficit before 1970. The effort, named for outgoing state chairman Ody J. Fish, will list contributors on a large thank you card presented to Fish. In a separate dispatch, 21 month old Juan Ann Marthaler died in a trailer fire in Hubbard, with her parents Elmer and (name) Marthaler hospitalized.

Burger appoints ten judges to oversee off-bench activity

Chief Justice Warren E. Burger appoints ten federal judges to supervise off-bench activities of all federal judges. A three-member review committee will receive quarterly reports on any payments exceeding 100 dollars earned by judges from out-of-court activity.

Oahu North Shore Escapes Monster Surf Threat

The north shore of Oahu Island avoided major damage as surf neared 30 feet at high tide, 20 feet below the predicted 40 feet. Over 1,700 residents had been evacuated with waves below the feared levels after a mid Pacific storm northwest of Hawaii spurred the surge.
