Gore plan boosts personal exemption to aid big families
Senate backed proposal by Sen. Gore to raise the personal income tax exemption from 600 to 800 over two years. For a four person family with 5 000 dollars income the tax would drop to 112 in 1972 under Gore versus 290 now and 200 under the committee plan. For 10 000 dollars income the Gore plan yields 962 tax versus 1114 now and 958 in the committee bill. For a single person at 5 000 dollars income the amendment lowers the tax to 538 from 671 now, vs 524 under the committee plan. For 10 000 dollars a single filer would pay 1640 under Gore versus 1748 now and 1468 under the committee plan. A married couple with 5 000 dollars income would pay 354 under the amendment versus 501 now, and 1 174 for 10 000 dollars under the committee plan.

A 14 year old Dodgeville Wisconsin girl Judy Jones won the grand champion beef carcass at the 70th International Live Stock Exposition. Walter S. Mander of Lincoln Meat Packing Co paid 2.50 a pound for the same meat while last year the carcass sold for 1.75. The 609 pound carcass completed Miss Jones 4 H project for the year.
