A blaze consumed a three story wooden home for the aged at Notre Dame du Lac Quebec. Police said as many as 55 of the 75 to 80 residents may be unaccounted for. About 69 elderly residents were listed as inside along with 17 mobility impaired and 10 staff members.
Men aged 19 to 26 born on September 14 with last names starting J will be drafted first next month under the nation’s first Selective Service lottery in a generation. In a brief test at Selective Service headquarters the 365 days plus February 29 were drawn in blue capsules from a glass jar to determine the draft order for those eligible next year and for future deferments.
