The procedure for closing schools during severe winter weather was announced by administrators led by Supt. D J Huenink. A decision must be made by 6 30 a m with pre dawn road checks by 5 a m involving Park of Truck Lease Inc and Stuckey.
The Jaycee Conservation Recognition Program will be held at 8 p.m. in Monroe Junior High School auditorium. The event will name this year’s Outstanding Senior Conservation Farmer and present six area conservation awards. Guest speaker Agha Haider from Pakistan will speak. James Schwoegier SCS head will present slides.
Green County Fair directors at the National Fair Association meeting in Chicago contract a Grand Ole Opry Show for July 27 to 31, 1966 with Willis Brothers Grandpa Jones Benny Williams Ra mona as amphitheater acts. A two show auto thrill program is set for Sunday July 31 at 4 30 and 8 p.m following harness racing. Mickey Stark's Gold Bond Shows return to run the carnival midway. Directors also attend Wisconsin Fairs Association in Milwaukee in January.
Monroe High School announces adult tickets for Friday night Monroe Monona Crewe at Monona Grove. Tickets are general admission and fans should arrive early. Price set at 75 cents.
About half of Oaktron Industries workers reported for duty as production continued during a lockout threatened by Local 581. William Rollins, company president, said operations would persist through the holiday rush while negotiations resume December 14. The strike centers on a closed shop demand. 280 of 330 employees voted for the strike and the plant faces a 11 year history with 60 percent women workers.
Governor Tim M. Babcock will be the main speaker January 15 at a $25-a-plate testimonial dinner in Milwaukee honoring Republican Governor Warren P. Knowles.
A misprinted Mailbag letter suggested administrators limited student freedom in robe selection. Alumni learned the Class of 1966 ceded robe duties to a committee, while seniors retain the right to choose motto class color and class flower.

Miss Diane Klemm 19 of Decatur Factory Route 2 Brodhead is chosen to reign as Ball Queen for the Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association. She will crown the Swiss Wrestling Champ at the 9 p.m. Saturday Ball in Turner Hall after 2 p.m. wrestling.
Ethel Miller of Rossford, Ohio, received $45 by mail with an unsigned note pleading for forgiveness after a long wait. She suspects an overpayment, recalling only $29 was missing from her purse when she lost it in 1923.
Ralph Gruender, a 32 year old Waupun Prison escapee, is believed to have been in Monroe as police and FBI linked a stolen 1965 Cadillac to his escape route. The Cadillac, stolen from Monroe, had no plates and was traded in by Walter Bauman. Gruender, who fled Waupun last Thursday during a 70 year sentence for robberies and kidnapping, has sparked a statewide pursuit with tips leading from Waukesha to Milwaukee and Las Vegas.
In Saigon reports of savage fighting push South Viet Nam casualties with 459 Vietnamese dead in the week, 185 missing, and 811 wounded. American deaths fall to 40 for the week, compared with 240 the prior week, amid heavy combat losses.
