Jaycee Conservation Honors Evening At Monroe Junior High

The Jaycee Conservation Recognition Program will be held at 8 p.m. in Monroe Junior High School auditorium. The event will name this year’s Outstanding Senior Conservation Farmer and present six area conservation awards. Guest speaker Agha Haider from Pakistan will speak. Fair Directors Plan 1966 Wisconsin Fair Attractions

Green County Fair directors at the National Fair Association meeting in Chicago contract a Grand Ole Opry Show for July 27 to 31, 1966 with Willis Brothers Grandpa Jones Benny Williams Ra mona as amphitheater acts. A two show auto thrill program is set for Sunday July 31 at 4 30 and 8 p.m following harness racing. Mickey Stark's Gold Bond Shows return to run the carnival midway. Directors also attend Wisconsin Fairs Association in Milwaukee in January.

Oaktron plant to run despite union picketing

About half of Oaktron Industries workers reported for duty as production continued during a lockout threatened by Local 581. William Rollins, company president, said operations would persist through the holiday rush while negotiations resume December 14. The strike centers on a closed shop demand. 280 of 330 employees voted for the strike and the plant faces a 11 year history with 60 percent women workers.

Escapee Gruender Believed In Monroe After Texas Chase

Ralph Gruender, a 32 year old Waupun Prison escapee, is believed to have been in Monroe as police and FBI linked a stolen 1965 Cadillac to his escape route. The Cadillac, stolen from Monroe, had no plates and was traded in by Walter Bauman. Gruender, who fled Waupun last Thursday during a 70 year sentence for robberies and kidnapping, has sparked a statewide pursuit with tips leading from Waukesha to Milwaukee and Las Vegas.
