Brodhead pool dedication occurred at Putnam's North Side park with the BHS combo led by Mary May Stuessy Mike Wish Jim Jones and Tom Maurer opening the program. Francis Gombar Jr recreation director noted capacity and facilities as Dr Ronaldean Pawlisch mayor praised the inch by inch achievement. The pool referendum concluded in April 1960 and Jaycees promoted the project with City Council members and Red Cross instructor David Timm present.

Fire Destroys Farm Building After Lightning Strike
A chicken house on the Er nest C. Waeffler farm in Jordan Township was destroyed by fire this morning likely after a lightning strike. Two bolts illuminated the area as the blaze began, with Monroe fire department rescuing part of an adjoining storage shed and about a dozen chicks perishing. Fire Chief Josef J. Benkert noted a prior false alarm nearby and ongoing sheriff investigations. The Waeffler and Smith farms lie along County Trunk Y northwest of Monroe. The storm disrupted area farms but power outages were short, and the day ended with a high of 86 and a forecast of cooler, fair weather tonight.

State To Finance Work at Airport
