Belleville Picnic Weekend Showcases Games Music and Food

The Belleville Community picnic arrives Saturday and Sunday August 16 and 17 at the Belleville Community Park. Highlights include softball and tug of war, a teen dance on the tennis court, Moundview rides and concessions, an outdoor chicken barbecue, a Belleville High School Band concert, a Belleville vs Wiota baseball game, aerial water fights with regional teams, and live music by Frontiersmen at the beer stand. The Old Timers softball match and Tug of War feature teams from Washington, Blanchardville, Argyle, Ashton, Mt. Vernon, and local rivals.

Fairgrounds Here Market Hog Show Slated for Sept 13

The Green County Fairgrounds will host the Market Hog Show and Carcass Evaluation Contest on September 13 with entries via John Mahikuch Sr Juda or Clinton Zettle Jr Route 2 Brodhead. Exhibitors must own hogs 60 days, weigh on arrival, and sell on grade and yield with Oscar Mayer buying.

The Green County Fair administration will close Friday after completing the 115th fair book work. St Joseph’s Gratiot Plans Centennial Celebration

Celebration Set For Argyle Firemen Festival Aug 16 17

Argyle hosts the 1969 Legion Firemen Celebration at Legion Community Park on Saturday and Sunday August 16 and 17. Events include a 24 team slow pitch tournament, water fights, tug of war contests for men and women, chicken fry Sunday, multiple concession stands, free dancing, and no admission to the grounds. Firemen teams from Monroe South Wayne Wiota Blanchardville Woodford and Monticello compete for the championship trophy.
