Hartman Outlines Armyworm Fight Across Green County
Farm management agent George Hartman reports the heaviest armyworm infestation lies south of Albany to Browntown with severe damage near Monroe Juta and Browntown and toward the Illinois Wisconsin border. He notes approvals for 144 pounds of malathion on oats and two pounds of Sevin 80 percent on corn hay and pasture with a seven day label waiting period. Sevin should not be used on oats for feed. Some corn fields especially in oat corn strips show extensive damage and should be sprayed. Worms expected to cause major damage for ten days to two weeks.
