Harness Races Open at Green County Fair Weekend

The 107th Green County fair features a fast track and 75 to 80 expected entrants for $5,600 in awards. Jet Ace and Fast Action lead entries from Chicago camps, with multiple three-year and two-year races on Saturday and Sunday starting 1 p.m. under Wisconsin Breeders and Harness Horse Association supervision.

County Fair Evening Shows and Events

The county fair offers 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. featured shows with Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Lee Castle, Letti Luce, Professor Backwards, The Crew Cuts, and Sutton Dancers at the amphitheater. Morning swine judging starts at 9 a.m. A 1 p.m. harness race is on the schedule with an additional fair show in the amphitheater at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Aut Swenson Thrillcade also appears at the amphitheater.

Huffman Wins Again at Green County Dairy Judging

At the 107th Green County Fair open class dairy and beef judging, John W. Ruff captured grand champion Holstein bull and senior champion bull, Otis and Alice Onsrud showed junior champion bull, and Mary Ann Burgy won grand champion beef in the Junior Fair. Huffman claimed grand champion Holstein female in the Junior Fair and senior showmanship, with the event marked as the fair's most competitive in history.

Mossman Named Monroe WPL District Manager

Duaine L. Mossman of Monroe is named Monroe District manager for Wisconsin Power and Light Co. effective Dec 8, succeeding George R. Byington, who will head the Southwest District in Mineral Point. Mossman, born December 1926 in Burlington Iowa, is a registered engineer and has served as Monroe District operating superintendent. He holds degrees from Iowa State College and has four children.

Deputies and city police probe two related break ins in Green County. Lewison Enters Madison Hospital for Respiratory Ailment
