Veteran Dog Trainer Builds Teams At Cinderella Kennels

Benonia Trent Long, a Florida born trainer with Cherokee and Apache roots, works at Cinderella Kennels in Darlington showing dogs at Green County Fair. He trains hunting, protection and housebreaking for up to 114 breeds, with a 160 brood farm and a family life including wife Kathryn Edge and three children.

They warned oats and seeding hay land and corn show worm damage with new seedings and late planted corn at highest risk. Green County Fair Nears Finale with Big Weekend

Green County Fair enters its final weekend with 3 208 paid admissions on Friday 13 fewer than 1968 for the day. All 13 and under admitted free. WGN Barn Dance drew a near full crowd last night and tonight’s show is expected to attract more. Demolition Derby set for 4 and 8 p m Sunday after the harness card. Harness racing at 12 30 p m Sunday due to many entrants. Mrs Kenneth Wyss will lead parade on Saturday riding Dude's Girl the 1969 grand champion mare of Illinois and Wisconsin. Dude's Girl named one of the six top mares in the US and Canada last month at a national show in Iowa. Open swine judging underway with William Buehl Sr superintendent John Burgy assistant judge Rex Whitmore. In the sheep junior show Tim Sommers won grand champion flock and grand champion ewe. Monroe FFA member. Jim Allen Monroe FFA earned senior showmanship grand champion ram first place pen of market lambs and first place individual market lamb showing south downs. Rita Mellenberger Cadiz 4 H Club won junior showmanship.

Robert Grossen Jr Suffers Hand Injury

Robert E. Grossen Jr., 26, a Monticello farmer, lost the tips of three fingers on his right hand while working on a elevator chain to bale hay. He was admitted to St. Clare Hospital at about 11 a.m. yesterday after the accident.

Green County Barbershop Chorus to join Monroe City Band concert

The Green County Barbershop Chorus will share the Monroe City Band program on Monday August 4 at the Twining Park Bandshell. Chorus director is Leon Rabe with about 35 members performing a capella four part harmony. The program features Sousa marches, Lohengrin excerpts, Bach prelude, J P Sousa salute themes and special performances. Stanley Neuberger will announce, free admission supported by Monroe city funds and a Recording Industries Music Performance Trust fund grant and the AFM.
