Dwight Elmer and Mrs Milton Babler acquire control of the Post from Ray M Wargier who after 26 years retires. John Schindler joins as apprentice printer. The Blade is sold to Dennis and Mrs Denise Novinski of Montfort, former Montfort Mail publishers, who will take active management May 1 1960. Novinski's background includes early printing work in Montfort and Korea service. the Blade traces its history back to 1887 and has been owned by the McGuigan family since 1957.

The Associated Press reports Wisconsin's 1960 highway fatalities total 200, ten more than the previous year at this point. Three deaths in the last 24 hours include Oscar Hanson, 67, near Mellen Ashland County. Leo Wanta, 72, Rosholt. and Thomas C. Anderson, 40, Cadett, all due to traffic crashes on highways 2 and 29.

Monticello Times Special reports Victor E. Kimball of the State Department of Public Instruction urged keeping schools that distinguish exceptional children. He noted state law requires all districts join a high school unit by July 1, 1962 and discussed transferring seventh and eighth graders from rural schools to departmentalized junior highs to offer arts and other courses. He said smallest recommended schools would enroll about 400 and emphasized state aid depends on local action, with no new building required.
