A falling limb likely triggered a temporary line short at the south substation, while a later oil breaker outage cut power to several towns for about an hour. Damages were limited to a fuse box at the old heating plant and temporary service was set up for the Orchesis program.

Louis H. Kohli 76 of 1709 9th street Monroe clothier and prominent local figure died after his car was struck by an Illinois Central freight train at Midvale boulevard crossing in Madison.
