Highway 15 Plans Given New Impetus
Madison assemblyman George Belting backs bonding to speed Highway 15 upgrades from Milwaukee to Beloit Janesville. The plan would convert the two lane road into a four lane divided highway by 1972 and free funds for bridge work on long state trunk routes. Beloit residents and business leaders urged rapid completion citing delays and Chicago traffic.

Sfc Zimmerman volunteers for six more months in Vietnam
Albany native SFC Adolph W Zimmerman Jr after 12 years in the service and a 30 day home leave has volunteered for six months more duty in Vietnam. He will depart Chicago Tuesday April 22 returning to Ankhe central highlands. He commands the feeding program with 13 Vietnamese workers and 15 cooks. He notes all food is supplied from the States and describes the base port Qui Nhon and local water trucking.

Minstrel Show Excites Overflow Lions Club Audience
The Lions Club City Band Minstrel Show drew an overflowing crowd for the second performance last night. Tickets for Sunday matinee are nearly gone with 160 moved to Raf's Confectionery tonight. Final show ends Sunday afternoon after a 1969 run full of special tributes, music, and comedy.

Pound to Speak at Green County Founders Day Dinner
Dr Glenn Pound dean of the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is named speaker for the Green County UW Founders Day dinner to be held next Thursday April 24 at the Casino Monticello Alumni are invited Reservations with William Gyure Monroe. He joined UW in 1940 and earned a PhD in 1943 in plant pathology and botany. He previously chaired the plant pathology department and served as associate pathologist with the USDA 1943 1946 on vegetable seed production during the war.

Fire destroys mobile home near New Glarus
The mobile home of Larry Goecks family, two miles southeast of New Glarus near the golf course, burned completely in the early morning. Firemen were on scene from 3 to 5:30 a.m. Goecks was home alone. wife hospitalized, two children with grandparents. Cause under investigation, loss not estimated.
