26 Die as Airliner Explodes Near Guaymas Coast
Twenty six persons were killed when a Mexican airliner exploded in the air near the resort of Guaymas on the Gulf of California. Bodies and wreckage of the C46 were strewn along the shoreline witnesses reported. The Tigres Voladores Lines plane took off from Mexicali for Mexico City before dawn.

Prom Queen Dies In Highway Crash In Wisconsin
Frances Kirchner 16, Prescott, prom queen, died when a car overturned on Highway 10 eight miles west of her home. Ronald Nelson and Rosemarie Langer, Prescott teens, were hospitalized in Red Wing in good condition. Peter Kelly 19 River Falls was treated and released. The crash occurred around 3 10 am after a private party following the Prescott dance.

Baby Twister Strikes Illinois Near Freeport
A tornado described as a baby twister damaged sheds and toppled a trailer house southwest of Freeport yesterday afternoon. It carved a path over two miles long from southwest to northeast ending at Highway 20 west of Freeport. The storm, with strong winds and heavy rain, lasted about 10 minutes. The Monroe rainfall reached .54 inch, bringing green grass to the city as temperatures cooled and showers were forecast for Sunday afternoon.

Milwaukee police and Chicago investigators eliminated Joe Herman Lee, a 25 year old escapee from Waupun prison, as a suspect in the kidnapping and slaying of 6 year old Ben Wagner. The probe found Lee could not have lured the boy into a car and was not connected to the late April death.
