Apollo 13 off course to make midcourse engine correction
Mission Control reported Apollo 13 is off course and must perform a midcourse burn tonight or Thursday to return safely. If the burn fails the craft could miss Earth by about 104 miles, though officials called the odds excellent. State Returns Highway Use Taxes to Cities
Wisconsin’s state division of highways mailed more than 6.6 million dollars in highway user tax checks to all cities towns and villages. The first portion of about 50 million to be returned to local governments funds road and street improvements with separate county allocations. Green Lafayette and Rock counties received 287265.55 overall with detailed city and town distributions listed. The total allotment covers 58 344 miles of town roads 2483 miles of village streets and 8913 miles of city streets and excludes state and county trunk highways within municipalities.
