Monroe city police officers completed the Red Cross basic first aid course in 10 hours of training directed by Assistant Chief Dwight C. Coplien. Instructors Mr and Mrs Enoch E Huston of Monroe led the program focusing on immediate and temporary help for injuries and emergencies.

Mrs. Rosa Field 77 died yesterday at Lutheran hospital Beaver Dam. Services 1 30 p.m. Monday at St John s United Church of Christ where she was a lifelong member and Aid Society president. A gallop turned fatal when her horse stumbled and crushed her. The family vacationed in Tucson since April 2 with two sons. The body will go to Wisconsin for services and burial.
Seventy eight of eighty rural and parochial students planning to enroll as freshmen at Monroe High School attended an orientation day. Guidance Counselor James Speerschneider and Principal Lloyd Neilsen led the event with help from Student Council members Sharon Einbeck Dean Holcomb Joan Swiggum and Gayleen Steensrud. Officials explained course offerings school organization and course selection. Much time was spent on tests in reading English arithmetic and science whose results will guide guidance and programming decisions.
An Air Force spokesman said the fatal shooting of Airman Derand L. Loomis 23 at a radar station was accidental. Loomis died from a .45 caliber bullet near the heart while two airmen guarded the gate. the weapon was in another airman's hands when the shot occurred.
Monroe public school children will return to classes Monday at the usual time after a week of spring recess. Parochial students began recess April 2 and return to classes on Wednesday.
Senator Proxmire urged quick enactment of a long range farm program despite a possible veto on the freeze bill. He spoke at a Middleton rally noting Eisenhower wields power over farmers since 1933 and called for Congress to act after Easter recess. Reynolds for attorney general and Ray Dittmore for the U S Senate with dates for district events.
