Woman's Club of Monroe Born in 1884 by Dr. Helen Bingham
The Monroe Woman's Club formed July 10 1884 at Dr Helen Bingham's home with twenty two founders and officers Lida Ludlow president Amelia Churchill secretary. The club grew, moved venues, joined state federation in 1899 and held its first district federation convention in 1909. No Charges Filed Killer of Wiretap Sleuth Goes Free
A 17 year old Wauwatosa boy who shot and killed Carl Wesley a private detective while Wesley was setting up a wiretap in the boy's family garage was released to his mother. An early morning fire at Nathan V. Weiss's Route 2 farm east of Monroe destroyed a hog house housing 70 young pigs. Fire chief credited firefighters with saving the structure as wind fueled the blaze and one sow was injured. insurance covered building and part of stock. Warren Couple Hurt In Highway 11 Crash
