Fred Glauser Named New City Supervisor After Fifty Years in County
Fred Glauser a well known Swiss leader and newly appointed Sixth Ward supervisor on the County Board will observe his 50th year in Green County on May 15. Mayor Brooks J. Dunwiddie named him to succeed the late Clifford M. Fritz as supervisor for one year. Glauser came to the county nearly 50 years ago starting as a cheesemaker in Brodhead. He learned cheese making in Switzerland for seven years before immigrating and later worked at several area factories before retiring after 44 years in the business. He has lived in Monroe 26 years and holds posts with Swiss clubs and groups including Concordia T.O.O.F lodge, Turners Hall Club, and St. John’s church.
