In Omaha on June 22 Dr W E Dubois a noted Atlanta educator asserted that about three fourths of the negro vote would oppose Taft He criticized Booker T Washington saying his stance signals little real support and warned that Washington favors the path of least resistance in uncertain times.
The group denounces the Brownville affair and accuses the party of adopting a disfranchisement philosophy that keeps blacks out of politics. They urge 500,000 northern Black voters to refuse to vote for Taft, warning of a caste system risk.
Popular Bluff Mo June 20 Ball opens in the opera house thanking Evans and Whitecotton for withdrawing from the guber natorial race. He invites diners at the governor mansion in January and says Evans withdrawal ends the contest. He backs statewide prohibition and pledges a state directed Missouri public school textbook commission and publishing plant, aligning with the Kansas City platform.
