The Hannibal District Epworth League of the ME Church South will hold its annual conference at LaBelle from June 18 to 20. Rev C A Eaton of St Judes preached in St Louis last week and at Old Orchard in the morning and St Jon's in the evening. Food Prices Hit New Highs In June 1912 New York
Prices in June 1912 rose sharply across the board with food costs up about 20 percent from a year earlier. Meat eggs butter fish potatoes coffee tea sugar salt molasses rice beans and peas lead the surge while fruits fell behind 1910 levels and leather and chemical costs also climbed. The average market basket cost about six dollars versus five dollars in June 1911.
