Proposition 6 on the Ballot Expands Homestead Tax Relief
The measure authorizes a county or subdivision to exempt up to 40 percent of a residence homestead's market value in 1982 84 30 percent 1985 87 and 20 percent 1988 onward with a minimum exemption of 5000 and requires notices of estimated taxes to owners in certain cases. It also backs bonds for veterans land increasing total bonds to 950 million and raising the maximum interest on veterans land fund bonds to 10 percent with possible higher rates by law.
