Hurd Municipal Airport Opens New Terminal and Hangers
Festive opening last Saturday drew a large crowd for the Hurd Municipal Airport terminal and hangers. Don Farr of the pilots association spoke to attendees as Al and Lynn Pakcyk, airport managers, looked on. Farr received an ovation in a bottom picture. Proceeds from a pancake breakfast and plane rides benefit the airport fund. In the afternoon pilots and bomber teams threw flour bombs at a target. Mayor Richard Hoyer participated but his bag was never found.

Rancher blasts Ward County tax plan as asinine
Rancher John Wilson challenged commissioners after they approved the 1982 budget and lowered the tax rate to 32.12 cents per $100. He questioned who would set land values, criticized Pritchard and Abbott Appraisal Firm, and argued land value should be negotiated between buyer and seller with the corners of his section reportedly hard to locate. The remarks followed budget amendments increasing values by 20 million dollars, with continued controversy leading to a continuation on page 3.
