State Comptroller notes Texas sales tax exemptions expansion
Texas Comptroller Bob Bullock on Friday announced changes to sales and use tax law now in effect. Merchants may donate items from inventory to IRS exempt organizations without taxable reporting, provided the recipient has IRS tax exemption. Expanded exempt groups include Rotary clubs and similar civic groups, veterans and fraternal organizations. Tax on items used for personal benefit will be based on rental value for the period used.
