Hotline for Runaways Brings Parents Peace of Mind in 1973
Operation Peace of Mind began after the 1973 Houston bodies discovery to relay parent messages to runaways without revealing location. The 24 hour toll free line, staffed by volunteers, operates nationwide with numbers 800 231 6946 and in Texas 800 392 3352. Calls are untraceable, require only minimal information, and aim to reunite youths with their families while offering referrals to free services.
