Blast at Coca Cola plant injures seven in Monahans
Seven Coca Cola workers were hurt when an explosion ripped through the Monahans plant early Friday. Police and firemen suspect a gas leak beneath the floor as the cause. Several workers were treated for fractures and lacerations. some were transferred to Odessa Medical Center. The building suffered major damage, with the bottling room roof gone and Main Street partly closed. Authorities and company officials estimate damage above $100,000 and expect weeks to months before full operation resumes.
