Jimmie Alberts and G F Bates of El Paso were Monahans visitors last Thursday. Alberts runs Hotel McCoy in El Paso and is a longtime contact for the News editor. The pair, in the mining business, were en route east and south Texas after placing contracts for distribution of Barite Ore used as mud weight in oil well drilling. They process and ship the product from El Paso.
Mrs Lulu P Metcalf of Stanton canned 4221 cans of vegetables in 1932 and already this year has 1064 cans of meat. The Martin county woman stores meat and vegetables for future need, ensuring steady supplies for hard times.
The Monahans Boy Scouts met Tuesday evening at the school house from 7 30 to 9 o clock. Scoutmaster Kemp led 10 boys in games and tenderfoot tests. Malcolm Tripp was elected patrol No 1 and Joyce Underwood patrol No 2. Attendees included Kemp, Tripp, Etheridge McKinzie, Eldrige McKinzie, John Williams, Joyce Underwood, Clyde Garner, Ed Long, Edward Cope and Tony Welch.
Max Winkler advertises a closing out sale on all ladies and children's shoes dresses hose and underwear to make room for Men and Boys merchandise arriving soon. Goods are described as new and purchased under wholesale prices with bargain prices as wholesale costs rise.
Mrs J E Spruill hosted the Intermediate Baptist Sunday school class for a picnic in the sandhills north of town on Saturday afternoon. Sandwiches and soda pop were served to Dorothy Winkler Dorothy Hawkins Cleta Vernon Peggy Henderson Geneve Beasley Dorothy Johnson Roy Beaver B F Wallace Phillip Marget Gilmer Johnson Archie Rogers J T Yates and Bob Brown. Chaperones were Mr and Mrs Pitcock.
Mrs. T. J. Vernon spent last week with her daughter Mrs. H. G. Glass of Wink.

City Council in a called meeting approved purchase of an exact duplicate Pomona Pump for water well No 1 at a cost of 648 dollars. The deal includes column and shaft for the old well to boost capacity and a concrete floor sheet iron pump house to begin today. Representatives Crosby and Mills of Am arillo delivered the unit from Clowe and Cowan.
G L Mauldin, long time ice deliverer for Monahans residents, is confined to his room this week after a dog bit him in the calf on Sunday. He was delivering ice to a customer when the dog sprang from under a house without warning. Friends hope he returns to work soon.
Red House, T. J. Vernon and Mrs. Carrol Williams with two children left Sunday night for California. Mrs. Williams will visit relatives there. Red and T. J. are on a vacation and will visit many different points while away.

Stamford Texas Cowboy Reunion enters its fourth year with July 5 start and runs through July 4 5. Officials predict 40 000 attendees up 10 000 from last year as grounds and grandstand seating improve. Cowboys from ranches perform in a rodeo with more prize money over 1400 dollars.
Monahans residents gathered for a family reunion at the home of W R Holman in Fort Stockton last Sunday. Attendees included Mesdames J R Holman A L Draper Theo Andrews W A West J A Casey Earl Estes and children Mrs Orvin Pigman and children and Miss Qozell West. Everyone reported a delightful day and dinner with Mrs Holman and Mrs Draper staying for a few days.
Derrick Rogers of Merkel is visiting in the home of T. J. Vernon. The brief item notes a personal visit between two local residents.
