Adjustable Mortgage Loans AML rule aims to curb inflation
The Federal Reserve Board authorized variable rate mortgages through AMLs to let S and Ls and Federal Mutual Savings banks offer home loans with interest that rises or falls with markets. Lenders must use a verifiable index, provide disclosure forms, give 30 to 45 days notice of adjustments, and permit prepayment without penalty. The loan term cannot exceed 40 years, and borrowers should shop around and understand payment changes before signing.

Cautionary note on deceptive plant schemes and BBB guidance
The Better Business Bureau warns against mail order plant schemes that lure elderly investors with promised income and buyback guarantees. Promoters often reject plants after purchase, keeping the money while investors lose funds. Before investing or buying, verify reliability with the BBB at 563-1880 and seek a report to ensure the company will stand behind its product.
