After a week of work the city pool begins to take shape with walls poured. The park project sits in a five acre South Hexie Street tract. contractor J 40 Cunningham expects completion by mid next month.
Additions and improvements to the Royal Crown Cola plant on south Pacific street are expected to be completed early next month. Owner R King Coke said the project adds space for machinery and offices and will include an upstairs lounge with a roof garden on the north side. The building will be finished in white stucco.
W. H. Butler was elected to the Board of Directors of the Red Bluff Water Power Control District at a special election last Tuesday. He will represent Ward County Improvement District Number 3 and fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of L. D. Boxley. Butler has previously served on the board.
Rev and Mrs Ray B McGrew of Pueblo Colorado announce the birth of a daughter named Carol Ann Rev McGrew formerly served as pastor of the Methodist Church in Monahans Texas.
Britton McNerlin and Toon Estes appeared in Sterling City court earlier this week for legal proceedings. Authorities scheduled further hearings and potential actions regarding the case.

Mss Lois Whitehead, longtime employee of the local telephone office, was transferred to the Midland office this week.
The county seat and courthouse bond cases remain essentially the same as last week with Barstow attorneys given until tomorrow to request a rehearing before the Supreme Court. Officials expect a late filing to delay a ruling until after the summer adjournment, predicting a decision possibly in October.
Priscilla Jean Clark a seven pound daughter of Mr and Mrs C E Clark was born in a local hospital Tuesday in Wickett Texas.
Virginia Lou born in a local hospital Tuesday to Mr. and Mrs. M. E Wilkening. The newborn weighs seven pounds and joins the family.
Mrs. M Ritchey 72 of Marathon died in a local hospital yesterday evening from a heart attack. The Walter Harwell Funeral Home transported the body by coach to Marathon. Funeral arrangements were not announced.
W F Scarborough 71 dies at a Kermit hospital from gun shot wounds suffered Monday at his ranch 15 miles northwest of Kermit. His son Hollis Scarborough 52 is held in Winkler County jail awaiting grand jury action and the assault with intent to murder charge will be changed to murder. Scarborough residere in Midland with oil and cattle interests in Andrews and Winkler counties and was known for religious benefactions and funding preacher education. Funeral services were held at 10 yesterday in Midland.
Col. Ernest O. Thompson Railroad Commissioner will be the honor guest and main speaker at an Alpine Chamber of Commerce banquet and mass meeting at the Holland Hotel tonight. He also speaks Saturday at Sul Ross College on proration and conservation of oil and gas, detailing state planning and the fight to preserve Texas oil resources.
Mr and Mrs Oliver Jenkins are spending two weeks on vacation in Hot Springs New Mexico during their trip.
Mrs. Violet Cathey has been transferred to the Midland office of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
John Fardel of Ages Driving Company is confined to his bed this week with a severe bout of flu. He remains under medical care as his condition is monitored by his physician.

H F Fox district manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company based in Midland visited Monahans this week as a business guest.
Martin L. Baze was elected to head the Monahans Wickett schools for the 1239 40 term at a regular board meeting on June 12. He succeeds P D Lewis who leaves for Forsan schools. Baze has four years as Brownfield superintendent where he built an enviable record.
Born to Mr and Mrs J T Norgrass of Pyrote an eight pound boy Monday. Mrs Roy Davis discharged from hospital Sunday after treatment. A tonsillectomy performed on Ivan Chambers of Royalty Wednesday. Born to Mr and Mrs L D Nichols of Pyote a girl last Saturday. L L Stewart of Royalty underwent an appendectomy last Sunday.
R. R. Martin of Eufaula Oklahoma superintendent for the Dunlap Company Mrs Martin and daughter and Josh Clardy manager of the Dunlap Store Odessa were observed as business visitors in Monahans during the week.
Scottie Tibbs, who spent weeks as a pilot for Southwest Texas Fluine Service, has returned to his home in Dallas.
Mrs. W. B. Hamner, mother of Mrs. M. Jacobson, was visited in San Angelo due to her serious illness. She showed marked improvement on Wednesday after the prior call.
Three complaints were filed Wednesday at City Hall against W. B. Tudor for violation of a city trash hauling ordinance. City attorney Earl Earp said the case will probably be tried this weekend.
Mrs. J. H. Hudson of Little Rock Arkansas visits her brother J Polk Hinsley in Pyote. She formerly ran the Circle H grocery in Pyote for several years and will join her son Dr Granville Hudson in San Antonio next week to live there during his internship at the St. Francis Hospital.
Spud Reynolds used models and charts to explain electric refrigeration at the Rotary luncheon. The talk drew one of the club’s most lucid and entertaining programs. J. Conrad Dunagan was elected secretary, replacing Bill Portwood who moved to Fort Worth. Visiting Rotarians included Herbert Fox of Midland E B Ribble of Odessa and son Dick Prather of San Angelo. Ribble praised Monahans’ city pool construction as exceptional value for the money.
Mrs G E Robinson and Mrs Robinsons sisters with their children concluded a ten day vacation in New Mexico and Arizona, returning Saturday night.
Mrs. Aime Holmes of Winona and Mrs. F. F. Kennedy were dinner guests of Mrs. Irby Dye and her family Tuesday, providing a social note from the household gathering.
Mrs C S Reece of Brownwood is a guest of her daughter Mrs Fred Oberkamp and Mrs Oberkamp.
G O Walker a 60 year old Monahans business leader and Ward County politician died Tuesday night in Lubbock after a short heart ailment. He operated the Peoples Variety Store in Monahans with his wife and two sons at his bedside. Interment was in Lubbock Cemetery after funeral services by Reverend Leon Frazier.
Earl Estes, Monahans postmaster, who had been homebound by illness for months, returns to work this week as the Water-Sewer Bond Election is scheduled for July 3.
Postmaster Earl Estes says flood waters from Colorado City washed away the railroad bridge and caused about 400000 in damage delaying mail from the East. Eastbound mail is two hours late and will likely be delayed until Sunday as trucks replace rail service and traffic resumes over the highway bridge.

Monahans' Volunteer Fireboys defeated Crane Department 16 to 5 at High School field with O K Pace pitching amid ragged defense. A second game pitted local girls against the grandstand big leaguers with the girls winning 8 to 4 as Teer Rankin batted and Dyer pitched.
Criswell and companions Wodrow La Mance and Lince Criswell fished at Read Bluff over the weekend. They landed eleven bass and three catfish, with one bass weighing thirteen and a half pounds.
Mrs Woodrow Lamance and her house guest Miss Pauline Decker spent Sunday in Odessa visiting relatives.
Mrs. J. E. Middleton and Chauncey Joe departed Monday morning for a motor trip through California with plans to visit the San Francisco Exposition.
City council approves a July 8 bond election with two $30,000 serial bond propositions to extend waterworks and sewer systems. Proceeds fund storage, a city swimming pool, sewer plant expansion, and new lines, with a tax levy only for interest and sinking fund. voter eligibility hinges on property in city limits.
W. P. Bill Portwood, local manager of the Texas Electric Service Company, is to transfer to the Fort Worth office. H. T. Lenox, formerly Monahans manager now in Wink, will take Portwood’s place and be reassigned to Fort Worth. Portwood will join the commercial department in Fort Worth.
