Monahans Begins Municipal Pool Construction On Hoxie Street
Excavation for Monahans municipal swimming pool started on Hoxie Street three blocks south of Sealy Avenue. J L Cunningham won the bid and began site work this week. The pool, shaped like an L and 100 by 70 feet with depths from a few inches to 12 feet, will sit in a five acre park with brick bathhouses and concession rooms. Water will be drawn from the south side supply at 156 gallons per minute. Terrace and park landscaping will follow later.

Mona Hans Wickett School Board Names New Superintendent
M. L. H. Baze was elected superintendent for the 1939 40 term at a board meeting. He will begin July 1 succeeding P. D. Lewis who resigned for Forsan. Baze, Abilene Christian College graduate, has 22 years in public schools and a Texas Tech master's. He led Brownfield schools raising scholastic units 18 to 35, paying off debt and unifying athletics including two consecutive football championships.
