Veteran Texas journalist Jesse McKee dies after long career
The newspaper fraternity mourns Jesse McKee a Barstow publisher and founder of the Ward County News Fort Stockton Pioneer Sanderson Times Alpine Avalanche and other Texas papers. He died after injuries from a bridge accident and subsequent complications. Funeral services were held in Pecos with interment in Seguin. Surviving are his wife son Jasper two daughters Maggie and Ms Norman Scott a sister and his mother and two brothers.

Escaped Convict Apprehended in Monahans This Week
James Rese a Negro was arrested in Monahans Tuesday morning by Sheriff Irby Dyer and Deputy Ray Keenan. He is wanted in Pawnee Oklahoma for burglary and jail break and had been in the pen five times. Detained as Earl Strong he admitted his identity and waived extradition. Oklahoma officers expected to come for him this week. he also used the alias Terra pin and is held in Pecos pending arrival of authorities.

First Booster Club Faces Cast for The House Next Door
The Booster Club opens rehearsals for The House Next Door a three act comedy drama set in England with seven men and four women in the cast. Practices will run Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Friday until performance. Half of advance ticket revenue goes to fund a Mondhans band shell. Production date not yet announced.

Monahans Eyes Modern Creamery Move by Artesia Investor
W R Stephens of Artesia New Mexico seeks local investors in a corporation to relocate nearly $20000 worth of dairy equipment to Monahans for a creamery. Plant aims include butter Bulgarian buttermilk ice cream cheese and other milk by products with milk supply arranged locally. Investors may buy up to ten percent at $100 per share with $10 monthly, no cash until equipment is delivered. A meeting with business men is planned this week to plan details and secure a first lien mortgage if needed.

South Ward wells show oil gas output in early week
Texas-Pacific No. 7 Barker in section 27 B29 produced about 250 barrels daily as it drilled to 2395 feet 330 feet from the southwest line and 1650 feet from the southeast line. Texas-Pacific No. 6 Barker reported minor oil show with 6 to 8 million cubic feet of gas daily at 2400 feet in the same section. Mid-Continent No. 2 Potts bored ahead at 2385 feet in lime and sand. Gulf No. 1 Estes yielded 3 540 000 cubic feet of gas daily from sand at 2389 to 2395 feet and will rat hole ahead from 2395 feet. The Gulf well sits 330 feet from the east edge of section 38 34 H T C.

Three Men Injured as Fort Worth Spudder Burns
Jim Woosley and his son along with another man suffered serious burns when the Fort Worth Spudder they were using to finish a well caught fire and burned to the ground. They were taken to Pecos for treatment, with Clyde Braford and Star machine involved in the project at Grandfalls. The Sr also burned at the same site. Woosley, longtime Grandfalls resident, hoped the injured could return home after hospital care in Pecos.

Open Tennis Tournament Set for Wink Sunday
Monahans sports figures travel to Wink for the Pecos Valley Tennis Tournament starting at eight in the morning with men’s doubles and a Sunday finish. Invitations go to players from Wickett and nearby towns. Allen McAnelly of Wink sponsors the event and invites all within 100 miles to compete. The Mixed Doubles finals from a Pecos event will also be played at 8:30 with Monahans pairings and Hobbs New Mexico competitors.

Robbery near Monahans tied to Williams and Ordoneas
L W Williams waived prelim on robbery with firearms and was bound over to the grand jury after the hijacking of V L Sooter about one mile south of Monahans on the Grandfalls highway. Camitilda Ordoneas said Williams forced her to participate and held a knife to compel aid. Sooter lost a dollar and fifty cents. Williams resides in Houston.

In the Waddell pool northern Crane county Gulf No. 5 Henderson reached 3 363 feet in lime after 500 feet of oil shows and drifted. Montana Man Loses Car and Clothing in Theft
C. S. Harrington of Montana reported his 1931 Ford roadster stolen from in front of a local variety store. He left the car with a coat a gladstone bag and traveler's checks inside and towed the back seat. Harrington, visiting to locate his brother, left for about an hour while checks remained in his pocket and keys in the ignition. Police were informed by Saturday.

Clyde In gheam continues drilling the new water well at the high school property near the tennis courts. A. E. Leng, superintendent of schools, said the exact depth and level are not yet set as a parting contract. The work is on school grounds fifteen feet east of the tennis courts.
