City Lowers Water Rates For 5 Months
The Monahans city council voted to reduce water rates for lawn and yard use for five months starting June 2. A minimum monthly payment of two dollars covers the first three thousand gallons, then fifty cents per thousand for the next two thousand, and fifteen cents per thousand for each additional thousand. An affidavit confirming water use for home beautification is required. The council also approved a 650 foot extension of the Guadalupe Street main to serve the Hays subdivision and Landers and Guy Addition, noting municipal water sales fund city needs and that lower rates stem from city ownership.

IGHTY YEAR OLD J W Potts Indian Fighter ranchman and co owner of the Stockton Hotel in Fort Stockton was prevented by illness from visiting the Charlie Mes singer oil test on his 320 acres in the Pecos Valley pool. He had long dreamed of an oil well and greeted oil men at the hotel run by Dr D J Sibley and himself. The three quarter mile extension well looked promising as a small well.

Courts Roll With Truck At School Site
Surface of the schoolyard courts near Monah is being rolled this week by a heavy truck with dual tires to smooth gravel into asphalt. Plans to haul pulverized rock asphalt from Uvalde for a binder coat were dropped temporarily pending rolling results. The surfacing uses the same method as recent city street paving but with finer gravel for a smooth playable surface.
