NL Baroid Opens Service Center at Monahans
NL Baroid cut the ribbons Wednesday on a complete drilling fluids service center in Monahans serving Permian Basin drillers in West Texas and southern New Mexico. The facility includes 2700 square feet of offices, 12,000 square feet of warehouse space, and a 15 square foot drivers’ lounge with spare parts, plus four 4,100 cubic foot pneumatic trailers and two skid-mounted tanks to hold 20,000 sacks of barite and 7,000 sacks of ilmenite. The mud mixing plant has two 250-barrel tanks and 24 500-barrel storage tanks powered by two 671 diesel engines and two 100 hp motors. A 60-ton truck scale, dust collector, and T&NM spur rail track support bulk and rail unloading. Baroid plans to add completion and workover fluid blending by July 1982. The Monahans team includes 10 sales engineers, 14 drivers, two clerks and a warehouseman under district supervisor Charles Merrick. Boc O Pace leads the Odessa district.
