Steering committee forms for center guidelines
A 29 citizen turnout in the county courtroom discussed uses and rules for Monahans new community center. Ophelia Ratliff said 192 organizations were invited. Despite low attendance, the meeting drew diverse groups including the Chamber of Commerce and garden clubs. The council will propose guidelines for the county commissioners. The center will have a full time director to manage keys and bookings including the coliseum. Opening delayed to late July due to hail storm repairs. Peter Fox from Austin praised the effort and outlined council types used elsewhere in Texas. CONTINUED ON PAGE 3.
