J K Graves of Mineral Wells arranged and performed at the Merchants pageant held in the school auditorium. Tonight’s final showing at 8 30 features 75 participants, 50 local businesses in acts, with comic sketches, drills and a wedding scene under the W M S Baptist church.
Representatives from 12 West Texas counties gather in Pecos to plan continued efforts for a cotton fumigation refund. State Senator Ken Regan will address a bill to reimburse farmers, a measure recently killed in Austin committee conference.
Dr. J. H. Brock, a Fabens dentist, will open a local dental office by July 1. He will arrive next week to arrange an office building and living quarters and install modern equipment including an X-ray.

Lions club luncheon at Mrs. Tom Vernon boarding house drew eight members and five visitors including Dr. W. O. Rehmeyer Miss Marinel Summerhill L. J. Woods Webb Armstrong and H. J. Gurley Pecos. Summerhill read The Wop at the Baseball Game Woods challenged a Pecos Lions baseball game and Joe Sherwood was elected on the board of directors to replace Rowen Hudson who leaves for the summer.
Peggy Cleone Hale, 17 months old of Wichita Kansas, has the unique title of Wichita's Youngest Whistler. The red haired baby shows strong whistling interest and is beginning to follow tunes rather than build a vocabulary.
Pecos Furniture Company invites the public to view a number of new items arriving this week. The stock was bought before recent price increases, and the savings are passed on to customers.
Earl Houx and Mr and Mrs Moore made a pleasure trip to Fort Stockton and Balmorhea on Sunday, enjoying a family outing and visiting local spots during their excursion.
Peyton Waddill student pastor of First Presbyterian Wink will start a revival in Wicket next Monday night at 8 15 in the school building. Rev W R Mann Midland in charge of Sunday School Extension Work in El Paso Presbytery for the Board of National Missions will run a Vocational Bible school each morning during the revival. The program aims to help children and will offer an inspirational study for adults to be announced later. Waddill invites Mona residents to attend.
The Wink Ice and Fuel Co. completes a building to house equipment for an ice plant in Monahans. Wiring is in place and machinery is due within days, enabling immediate operation to serve the local community with ice and fuel.
A farewell party honoring Mrs. J. L. Heydon was given by the ladies of the W M A at the Baptist church on Friday afternoon. Seventeen ladies attended, presenting gifts and wishing her happiness in her new home. Refreshments of lemonade sandwiches and cake were served by Mesdames McNabb Andrews Weber Cochran Smithers Stampfly Pigman Johnson Hill Hogg West Wildman Gentry Clark and Cope.
The Reconstruction Finance Corporation approves a 23500 loan to Toyah Texas Reeves County for a water distribution system. It also records 40000 in loans to Reeves County Water Improvement District Balmorhea and plans a new loan at half that amount. The agency buys Toyah revenue bonds to cover the loan. Toyah, a Texas and Pacific railway division point, lies in Reeves County with no prior water system. water was once shipped at $1 a barrel. Water now comes from McCutchen Springs 37 miles away.
Miss Ruth Tangye was in Carlsbad New Mexico over the weekend. W A Estes Jr of New Mexico is visiting relatives here this week.
A group including S. W. Estes Jr and Lonnie Casey left for an overnight outing. They went to Madera Springs for dances and Balmorhea for fishing returning Sunday evening. Lee Roy Blue, ambassador of Africa, helped with the boiler and the trip's success.
A train carrying 33 recruits for California reforestation arrived in Monahans on the Texas and Pacific line last Friday at 4 55 pm and departed at 5 05 pm. The Kentucky and Ohio recruits were bound for Exeter California. E Potter of Big Spring served as conductor and Engine No 900 was piloted by L Smith of Big Spring.
Mrs. J. A. Haley and her granddaughter Ann Mason suffered severe cuts and bruises when their car overturned on the highway between Wink and Monahans while returning to Midland from the Haley ranch in Winkler County. D. H. Pope aided at the scene and drove them to Midland. Both were discharged from a Midland hospital and resting at the Haley home.
News from Wink reports Rex Theatre manager Joe Delorio plans to rebuild the Big Theatre, remodel and refinish, add sound upgrades and hundreds of seats. Work starts Friday with local labor only, costing about 7500 to 8060 dollars, aiming to be ready by August first and attract patrons from nearby towns.
The Wolflin Times, a weekly edited by 12 year old Terry Martin, covers Wolflin Estates news while Rev. J L Davidson and Rev C B Shropshire of Wink conduct a Church of Christ revival in Amarillo. Attendance rises nightly with three services planned next Sunday and visitors from nearby towns urged to attend.
Water outprices oil in the trans- Feeds region with oil varying 10 cents to 1 dollar per barrel while Alpine water delivered to the fields sells at 1 dollar per barrel. Three Alpine wells supply most drinking water. Estimated daily usage reaches 12 000 gallons in nine years.
June 9 Midland Texas one of the state s largest branding jobs nears completion as the Scarbauer Cattle Co finishes branding about 10 000 calves. Clarence Scharbauer a wealthy cattleman and Hotel Scharbauer owner at Midland led the operation with his cowboys.
Midland farmers plan a big fall harvest as continued spring rain ends a dry spell. The largest fall corn crop ever planted in Midland County is anticipated this year with farmers preparing to sow extensive acreages for a September harvest.
Rowen Hudson leaves this week for Fort Worth Dallas Longview Texarkana and Austin on business. He will be away four or five weeks.
