A community safety piece urges neighbors to unite against crime. It stresses reporting fires and floods, securing property, and involving local policing to form a neighborhood effort that increases vigilance and reduces opportunities for thieves.
Members of the Monahans Aerie and Auxiliary joined the Seventh Annual National Cook-off in Crane hosted by the Crane Aerie. About 300 attended on Smokey's Hill. Judges included Sarge Thompson and Jim Marks from Monahans. Mary Taylor of Monahans won second in the Auxiliary Division. Proceeds benefit the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund.
Corporations on a calendar year must pay their second 1978 income tax installment by Thursday June 15 if they expect at least $40 tax liability for the year. Payments require Form 503 and must be deposited in authorized banks or Federal Reserve Banks. Form 1120-W serves as an estimated tax worksheet. Kenneth Perry of Sul Ross University spoke at a Rotary luncheon with guests Charles Warnock and Dr. Bob Holston.
